The word of God needs to come first!
Out of this comes good things, including music. For this reason, the people who get involved in our music need to be more than just musicians and singers. The members of our team ought to be lovers of the Word of God and be part of our church.
Songs are tools for teaching truth and for reminding us of what God’s word says. For this reason, the majority of the songs we sing have several verses that help define clearly the truths we love to celebrate.
There should be variety in our music. As Baptists, we do have a special love for our theologically rich hymns old and new, but straight scripture and testimonies set to music should have a place in our worship as well.
Our voices, regardless of how we think they sound, are a gift from God. He made our voices to give Him praise. Thus, we sing in church. Singing is the basic foundation for our church’s music. All the rest is welcomed, but not necessary. For this reason, we encourage everyone on or off the stage to sing during worship.
Our singing should not come forth from the mind only. It should come forth from a genuinely thankful heart. We don’t just worship a "god" here. We worship THE God. If you have come to know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, He is your God too. Worship is not just words spoken from the mouth... But genuine worship springs from a heart devoted to Christ.
